SEO Best Practices

Here are some best practices and steps you can take to up your SEO game.

• Get your site indexed!

  Using the tools given to us directly from the search engines themselves, like GSC or Bing's Webmaster Tools, gives you a great deal of control over your site with search engines. Adding your site using these tools gets them indexed into the search engine, and people can start finding your site right away!

• Research and work on your keywords/keyphrases!

  Do some research and figure out what keywords or keyphrases will work best for your site. Do you want high competition keywords that more people might be searching for? Or low competition keywords that might not be getting as many searches? A mix of both? The choice is yours!

• Think about keyword density in your content!

  Now that you know what keywords / keyphrases you want to use, actually use them! Along with putting these keywords into the metadata of your site, it can help to actually uses these words and phrases in the content of your site itself. You don't want to bloat your content with the same words and phrases over and over just to increase density. Try to achieve a natural balance!

• Get your site out there! Get it seen!

  Things like WordPress let you backlink to your own site when commenting on someone's post. Or posting links to your site and content on relevant social media spaces. Both of these are examples of getting your site out there for people to see. This can increase the traffic and engagement on your site.

• Keep track of analytics!

  So you've got your site indexed, and you've started spreading the word. How do you know if it is working? How do you know if your current statergy to increase your traffic is working? Analytics will tell you just that! Depending on your content, and where you share it, you might have to use different statergies to bring in the audience you want to target. Tracking analytics can show you how effective it is!

• Take a more user friendly approach to your website!

  Once people get to your site, you want them to enjoy their time there right? You want to increase viewer retention and ensure visiters will want to come back again. Designing your site to be easy to navigate and use, as well as asthetically pleaseing to look at will make it more likley for people to stay on the site and return to check it out more.
